Tan Swie Hian Museum
Upon entering the museum located on the 4th floor of Tomlinson Headquater, visitor is transported into a strange landscape that alludes to the cerebral sand patterns of a Japanese Zen garden like the Ryo-anji. But unlike the Ryo-anji, the calligrapgy inscribed on the floor is not scared beyond reach. Spirituality is the sanctuary itself. There, under the enigmatic gaze of huge chess pieces perched on the roof beams, the visitor puts his own weight on the calligraphy that is elegantly etched in some places and rawly gorged out in others, as the strokes permit.
